At 6:33 p.m., Caldwell police responded to a pedestrian struck near 395 Bloomfield Ave., Acting Essex County Prosecutor Theodore N. Stephens, II and Caldwell Police Chief James H. Bongiorno said.
Gregory Katz was transported to St. Joseph's University Medical Center in Paterson where he was pronounced dead, Stephens and Bongiorno said. The driver of the vehicle remained on scene, Stephens and Bongiorno said.
The Essex County Prosecutor's Crime Scene Investigations Bureau is investigating and no arrests have been made, Stephens and Bongiorno said. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office at 1-877-847-7432.
